What is the goal of the programme?
The majority fled to Germany under very difficult circumstances. On top of that, they lived through two years of the pandemic, during which they had to cope with severe restrictions. To give them a break from their very demanding everyday lives while also supporting their integration process, we decided on a trip to Germany's capital.
For whom and with whom?
To reach children and young people, the programme is aimed on the one hand at local and regional organisations that run effective projects in children's and youth work on the ground. Projects implemented by these organisations that align with the goals of AUF!leben are eligible for funding.
In addition, (supra-)regional non-profit organisations and associations, initiatives, and networks that bring together several organisations are funded as implementation partners. The aim is to extend, intensify, and/or expand effective (supra-)regional programmes and approaches.
How and when?
At the heart of the programme is the Zukunftsfonds (future fund) set up by the DKJS, through which local organisations and implementation partners can receive funding for activities supporting and accompanying children and young people taking place between September 2021 and August 2022.
To fund as many effective activities as possible through the Zukunftsfonds, various funding categories were established under which funding can be applied for. Through formal and content-related funding criteria, the DKJS ensures that the activities are effective and consistent with the goals of AUF!leben.
The greatest possible openness regarding the topics and approaches of the activities for children and young people allows for a wide range of funded projects.
Beyond the financial support, participants in AUF!leben also benefit from being part of a strong community with a shared goal — one that connects, exchanges ideas, and enriches one another.
Who is behind it?
AUF!leben – Zukunft ist jetzt. is a programme of the Deutsche Kinder- und Jugendstiftung (German Children and Youth Foundation), funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. The programme is part of the German government's "Aufholen nach Corona" (Catching Up after Corona) action programme.
